V diplomacii i v provozní sféře v rámci MZV je podmínkou zaměstnání znalost alespoň 1-2 cizích světových jazyků, u diplomatických zaměstnanců 2 cizí jazyky (angličtina, francouzština, španělština, němčina dle volby), u zaměstnanců v provozní sféře hlavně pro práci na zastupitelských úřadech ČR v zahraničí.
